Career
Henry completed his BA at Trinity College, New York and practiced for four decades in an international law firm, helped found the firm’s international arbitration group and spent a period as its head of litigation. Henry is admitted to the United States District Courts: New York (all districts), Eastern District of Michigan, United States Courts of Appeal (First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and Ninth Circuits) and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In a career spanning four decades, Henry recognised as an established practitioner known for numerous headline international disputes, including both commercial and investor-state arbitrations, before all major arbitral bodies in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East including ARIAS. His in-depth knowledge of complex projects and joint ventures, expropriations, financings and cross-border investments, insurance and construction disputes who is recognised by global directories for his ‘wide-ranging practice, covering investment treaty and commercial arbitrations’.
Henry is a member of the AAA, IAI, ICDR, ICC, LCIA and FINRA and for his work with the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy; ICC Task Force on Financial Institutions and International Arbitration; ICC Task Force on the Revision of the ICC Rules of Arbitration. Along with being an overseas member of COMBAR, founding member of International Arbitration Club of New York (IACNY), New York International Arbitration Center (NYIAC) and member of the New York State Bar Association Task Force on New York Law in International Matters. As arbitrator, recent arbitrations include chairing an UNCITRAL arbitration that heard a post-acquisition dispute between a company and its shareholders, co-arbitrator in a supply agreement, and an AAA case among partners following the dissolution of a law firm.
As well as his experience as arbitrator, Henry is known for his pro bono work in Colvin v. Syrian Arab Republic and Faulkner v. Jones et al.
