Career

Emma is an experienced non-profit lawyer, having worked with charities and social businesses for over 10 years. Emma supports clients to pursue their impact and deliver their strategic objectives by providing integrated legal, regulatory, and commercial advice. Drawing on in-depth commercial experience, Emma has advised a wide range of charities and social ventures, including spin-outs from world-leading universities, learned societies, and international think tanks.

Emma is particularly experienced in developing innovative and impactful legal models for social ventures and helping to manage the implications of such models for internal governance, commercial scale-up (including licensing, branding considerations, complex research collaboration agreements, and corporate partnerships), and fundraising opportunities in both the philanthropic and social finance spaces.

Emma is a member of the Charity Law Association and has contributed to working parties on legal and regulatory developments. She is also a non-executive director for Social Enterprise East of England.
