Career

Oliver advises businesses, public bodies, and charities on commercial contracts and data protection, particularly in the context of technology procurement and infrastructure projects.

His commercial experience includes contracts for software and IT infrastructure, shared services agreements, major outsourcing projects, marketing agreements and public-private joint ventures. His IT work includes acting for suppliers and buyers of software-as-a-service and bespoke software development. He advises on business-to-business and business-to-consumer agreements. Oliver has also advised public and private bodies using Crown Commercial Service and NHS standard contracts.

Oliver’s data protection work includes advising clients on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as UK privacy law. He has experience of advising large membership organisations, organisations holding large amounts of health data, and public bodies using statutory powers to gather data. Oliver has particular expertise advising charities and non-profit clients on compliant fundraising and supporter engagement. He also advises on transfers of data out of the EEA and data sharing contracts.

Oliver’s infrastructure work includes advising promoters of infrastructure projects and interested third parties on agreements to remove objections to schemes, secure mitigation, agree compensation and establish frameworks for the exercise of development powers.
