Career

Matthew qualified as a solicitor in 2014 after completing his training contract with a boutique London firm that specialized in entertainment and family law. Following his qualification, he spent a year working exclusively in family law in London before returning to Liverpool. There, he worked for five years with one of the leading Family law teams in the North West before joining Stowe Family Laws’ Liverpool office.

Matthew is a financial specialist with significant expertise in resolving financial issues that arise from divorce and the dissolution of civil partnerships. His practice extends to handling claims by cohabitants related to disputed property interests under TOLATA and financial claims for children under Schedule 1 of the Children Act. His cases frequently involve mid-to-high net worth individuals, including senior professionals, business owners, and celebrities, and often include complex company structures, pensions, and trust issues. In addition to his work on financial matters, Matthew also represents parents in child law disputes, such as those involving the relocation of children within England and Wales or abroad.

Matthew’s educational journey began with a career in PR before he decided to transition into law. He completed a law conversion course and qualified as a solicitor in 2014 after finishing his training contract with a boutique London firm. His earlier career in PR included roles with a leading Liverpool theatre and two prominent national charities.

Leisure

Outside of work, Matthew is very family-oriented and enjoys spending time with his two young sons. When he has some rare free moments, he indulges in his hobbies, which include playing golf, watching American Football, drinking craft beer, and cooking, though he seldom manages to combine all these interests at once.
