Shanika is a skilled solicitor specialising in family law, particularly in matters concerning divorce and unmarried partnerships. She has substantial experience managing high-income cases and capital disputes, which often involve assets situated abroad and complex business structures. In addition to her focus on financial disputes, she has a keen interest in child law, striving to help clients navigate arrangements regarding where children will live and the time they spend with non-residential parents. Shanika has successfully represented clients in sensitive cases involving children with disabilities, as well as cases concerning relocation and grandparents' rights. Her understanding of military family dynamics, shaped by her marriage to an army veteran, enhances her capability to support military families. Moreover, she advocates for the LGBTQ+ community, addressing issues of sexual orientation and gender in her legal practice.

Shanika is involved with the Junior Family Lawyers group and participates in the solicitors working group and D&I group at Stowe Family Law. Additionally, she serves on the West Yorkshire Family Justice Board, highlighting her commitment to improving family law practices.

Shanika completed her undergraduate studies at Keele University in Staffordshire, followed by a distinction in her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law, York. Before commencing her training contract at Stowe Family Law in October 2014, she gained valuable experience at a legal aid firm, which focused on domestic abuse and children’s issues.

In her spare time, Shanika enjoys exploring her passion for cooking, travelling to new destinations, and attending theatre performances. She values quality time with her family and friends, enriching her personal life outside her professional commitments.
