Career
Helen has been practising family law exclusively for over 21 years, primarily in and around Manchester. She began her legal career in 2002 and spent over seven years at a top-tier Manchester city centre law firm, where she gained valuable experience and honed her expertise in family law. Since 2015, Helen has been with Stowe, initially based in Hale and Altrincham. She was promoted to Managing Partner of the Altrincham office in 2017, the Cheshire office group in 2021, and as of 2023, she is the Managing Partner of the North West region.
Helen has extensive experience handling a wide range of family law issues, including complex financial settlements on divorce or separation, valuing family businesses in the UK and overseas, understanding family trusts, and locating offshore assets. She is skilled in resolving disputes over child arrangements, advising on nuptial and separation agreements, and handling disputes between former cohabitees. Helen's cases often involve collaboration with forensic accountants, property valuers, and pension actuaries, reflecting her ability to navigate high-stakes financial disputes and complex family dynamics.

Helen has been a member of Resolution, a national organisation committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes, since 2008. She achieved family law specialist accreditation with Resolution, focusing on financial divorce settlements and child arrangement disputes.
Education
Helen is originally from Cheshire and attended Sandbach High School for Girls. She went on to study English at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 1998. After deciding to pursue a career in law, Helen completed the Common Professional Examination at Chester College of Law in 1999 and the Legal Practice Course in 2000, earning a Distinction. She completed her training contract with a prominent Midlands practice and qualified as a solicitor in 2002.
Leisure
Outside of her legal career, Helen is passionate about finding creative ways to manage modern life. She enjoys sketching, painting, and needlework, embracing a holistic lifestyle that incorporates Eastern teachings like Feng Shui and the meditative art of gardening. Helen is also focused on developing her yoga practice through classes and workshops.
As an avid reader, Helen is constantly exploring literature and is working on her first novel. Additionally, as a mother of two young girls, Helen balances her professional responsibilities with managing their busy social lives, a task she embraces with joy.
