Position

Charlotte specialises in high-value and complex commercial litigation, and has extensive trial experience in the High Court and appellate courts. Typically, she acts for major corporates, hedge funds, private equity funds, asset managers, liquidators and administrators, investors, professional services firms, banks, and high-net-worth individuals. Her particular focus is on investment banking disputes, capital markets, investment and fund management disputes, and she routinely acts against the major investment banks.  In 2021, she was recognised by Legal Week as one of the “best 25 UK women in law under 40”.

Representing Bank St Petersburg in its successful claim and defence of $500m counterclaim: Arkhangelsky v Bank St Petersburg PJSC [2022] EWHC 2499 (Ch)

Representing the AA in successful defence and strike out of a claim in the Court of Appeal: Burnford & Ors v Automobile Association Developments Ltd [2022] EWCA Civ 1943

Defending a multi-million-pound claim alleging mis-selling and fraudulent misrepresentation arising out of film-finance investment funds.

The team has also noted a recent increase in group litigation, particularly in the technology and retail sectors. Practice head Geraldine Elliott is a ‘seasoned litigator’ and an expert in shareholder and joint venture disputes, as well as warranty claims and asset and financial recovery. Specialising in financial litigation, Simon Hart handles disputes related to derivative products, lending arrangements and restructuring and insolvency. Charlotte Henschen represents clients in contractual disputes and civil fraud claims. The team was strengthened by the addition of Caroline Tuck from Deloitte in October 2023.
