Career

Tim is a solicitor advocate, Queens Counsel, who specialises in international arbitration and litigation, regulatory investigations, fraud and asset tracing, and public international law.

He acts for major corporates and financial institutions, sovereign states and parastatals, high net worth individuals and heads of state, with a focus on the following sectors: international trade and financial services, telecoms and media, construction and banking.

His practice encompasses arbitration, mediation and litigation:

He regularly acts as an advocate both in arbitrations and in cases before the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts, as well as in the Dubai World Tribunal (DWT) and the English High Court. He has also acted on disputes in other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries such as Saudi Arabia, as well as over 30 other countries worldwide. He regularly sits as an arbitrator and mediator in commercial disputes in the region and internationally.

Recent examples of work include representing:

A major Dubai-based real estate group in two arbitrations, and connected DIFC Court proceedings in a dispute valued at over USD 200 million in connection with the ownership and management of a luxury five star resort. A high profile Dubai Government owned developer in a portfolio of 15 construction related arbitrations valued at over USD 3 billion, subject to the DIAC arbitral rules, involving issues arising under FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
