Position

Allen is a Partner in the Firm's Projects & International Arbitration Department. He is also a Partner of Allen and Gledhill LLP, Singapore.

Career

Allen’s practice focuses on energy, engineering and infrastructure projects in South-East Asia. He is among the inaugural batch of select practitioners to be recognised as Accredited Specialists in Building and Construction Law by the Singapore Academy of Law.

He advises on tenders and project documentation for engineering and energy projects including the development, construction, operation and maintenance of power plants and bids for power plant generation licences. He also advises on contract administration and management issues in infrastructure projects.

In dispute resolution, Allen has represented a diverse range of clients including developers, contractors, consultants and investors in international arbitrations over energy, engineering, infrastructure, commercial and investment disputes. He has also acted in arbitration-related litigation, and other complex disputes before the courts in Singapore and Malaysia. Allen is ranked Highly Regarded for project development and energy by IFLR 1000. Benchmark Litigation has ranked him in the areas of construction, international arbitration, commercial and transactions. He is also recognised as a leading lawyer in international arbitration by Best Lawyers.

Memberships

Allen is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and sits as arbitrator on disputes administered by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and the ICC Court of Arbitration. He is on the panel of arbitrators of the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), the Chinese Arbitration Association, the Law Society Arbitration Scheme and the Reserve List of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre’s Panel of Arbitrators. He is also on the Panel of Neutrals of the Law Society Neutral Evaluation and Determination Scheme.

Education

Allen graduated from the National University of Singapore and was admitted to the Singaporean Bar in 1999. In 2008, he was admitted to the Malaysian Bar.
