Career

Joo Hyun Kim is an attorney at Kim & Chang. His primary practice areas include white collar criminal defense, antitrust & competition, capital markets regulation and criminal defense. Mr. Kim is highly skilled in handling libel cases and disputes involving media coverage based on his various work experience including serving as Spokesperson of the Ministry of Justice and his time in the District Prosecutors’ Offices. 

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Kim served as the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office and the Vice Minister of Justice. Well-versed in prosecution investigation and legal administrative affairs, Mr. Kim has achieved noteworthy results throughout his career.

Mr. Kim has also acquired significant experience in the special investigation field from serving as the Third Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and the Senior Prosecutor of the Special Investigation Support Department at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office. Furthermore, Mr. Kim has experience engaging in cooperative relations with relevant agencies, including the launching of a capital markets investigation team with the Financial Services Commission. 

When serving as the Director of the Prosecution Division of the Ministry of Justice and the Deputy Minister of the Prosecution Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Kim was in charge of personnel affairs, organization and budget of the Prosecution. He also possesses experience in administrative and government affairs from serving in positions such as the Vice Minister of Justice and the Deputy Minister for the Planning & Coordination Bureau. 

In addition, Mr. Kim actively participates in the academic and legal fields through his involvement in institutions such as the Korea Criminal Procedure Law, Fourth Industrial Revolution Convergence Law Association and Korea International Mediation Center.
