Career
Jisoo Lee is an attorney at Kim & Chang who practices in the areas of Tax Audit and Dispute Resolution. She has extensive experience in advising foreign and domestic entities in the context of tax audit and tax appeal to the National Tax Service, National Tax Tribunal and Judicial Court.
Throughout her career, Ms. Lee has been actively involved in many high-profile tax cases in the manufacturing, retail, banking and finance industries in Korea. Ms. Lee advises and represents private equity funds, corporate clients, and both foreign and domestic financial institutions in tax audit and tax appeal.
Before joining Kim & Chang in 1996, Ms. Lee served in the judiciary for six years. During her tenure as a judge, she accumulated first-hand experience in civil, criminal and administrative litigation. From 2009 to 2010, she worked for the National Tax Service as an Assistant Commissioner for Taxpayer Advocacy in charge of tax appeal as well as pre-assessment appeal. Ms. Lee served on the Tax Ruling Review Committee of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF) as well.
Ms. Lee received her LL.B. from the College of Law at Seoul National University in 1986, and continued her legal training at the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea. In 1992, she earned her LL.M. from Harvard Law School. She is admitted to the New York bar and the Korean bar.
