Career

Monica Leeu is a senior patent attorney managing the Integrated Technology Patent Practice of Kim & Chang.

Since joining Kim & Chang in 1997, Ms. Leeu has practiced all aspects of patent law including patent litigation, patent prosecution and opinion matters.

Ms. Leeu has extensive experience in patent prosecution and litigation involving various technologies with a focus on pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biotechnology and electronic materials. She has played a leadership role in numerous patent trials and litigations, including some of the leading landmark cases in Korea. Her recent practice involves counseling clients on diverse patent and technology-related issues, including pharmaceutical industry regulations and antitrust laws.

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Ms. Leeu worked at S.Y. Cha Patent Firm in Korea (1995-1996).

She is a member of the Korea Patent Attorneys Association and AIPPI. She participated as a speaker at the World Congress of AIPPI in 2012 and 2022, and the AIPPI trilateral meeting in 2014. She was featured in The Legal 500 as a “responsive, professional, and knowledgeable” patent attorney in 2012.
