Career

Joon Kim is a foreign attorney at Kim & Chang. As a member of the firm’s corporate practice, Mr. Kim extensively advises foreign corporations and large domestic conglomerates on a range of issues in connection with mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, fair trade law and cross-border corporate transactions.

Mr. Kim’s primary areas of expertise include both inbound and outbound mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies as well as disputes and investigations relating to foreign direct investment and antitrust issues involving multinational corporations.

Before joining the firm in 2006, Mr. Kim was associated with the New York and Hong Kong offices of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP.

Mr. Kim has co-authored multiple “Getting the Deal Through” and “Practical Law” articles on foreign investments and mergers & acquisitions. Most recently he published “Getting the Deal Through – Merger & Acquisitions: Korea chapter” (2017) and “Getting the Deal Through – Foreign Investment Review: Korea chapter” (2016) in Law Business Research.

Mr. Kim has received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2002, M.B.A. from Seoul National University in 1999 and B.A. in economics from Seoul National University in 1993. He is admitted to the New York Bar.

Mr. Kim is fluent in English and Korean.
