Career

Young Jay Ro is an attorney in the M&A, Private Equity and Acquisition Finance Practices at Kim & Chang. He also practices in the areas of corporate governance, capital market and foreign direct investment.

Since joining the firm in 1988, he has advised a wide range of clients in the areas of M&A, capital market and finance transactions (including corporate, acquisition and structured financing). He has extensively advised major private equity funds, financial institutions and multinational corporations on both financial and corporate matters. He also has broad experience in providing specialized tax planning advice and resolution of tax disputes.

Mr. Ro has been recognized as a leading lawyer in the Corporate/M&A sector by various domestic and international media, including Euromoney, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Asia Business Law Journal, and Chambers Global. He has been selected as a leading lawyer, leading individual, A-List Korea’s Top 100 Lawyer, and Hall of Fame Lawyer, among others.

Mr. Ro received his LL.M. from Yale Law School in 1993 and his LL.B. from Seoul National University College of Law in 1982. He attended the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea in 1984. He is admitted to the New York bar and the Korean bar.
