Career

Kee-Hong Chun is an attorney at Kim & Chang. He practices primarily in the areas of Antitrust & Competition, Mergers & Acquisitions, Foreign Direct Investment and China Practices.

Mr. Chun has extensive experience representing multinational and domestic companies in connection with various antitrust issues concerning cartel matters, litigation, joint ventures, distribution arrangements, intellectual property and competitor collaborations. Mr. Chun has also defended substantial merger investigations and other civil and criminal investigations involving a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, online markets, super stores, chemicals, IT, aviation and heavy industries. Mr. Chun successfully represented Korea’s largest internet search engine in a Korea Fair Trade Commission (“KFTC”) investigation where the client made the first-ever successful application to resolve the investigation through the KFTC’s consent resolution system.

As a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice and China Practice, Mr. Chun advises clients on a wide range of cross-border and domestic transactions, including share and asset purchase and joint ventures, corporate governance, and general corporate and commercial law matters.

Mr. Chun was named in Asian Legal Review’s “40 under 40” list in 2015 and was recognized among the “40 of the brightest young legal minds in the region.” The publication ranked only three practitioners in Korea, of which Mr. Chun was the only competition law specialist. He was also recognized by Euromoney Expert Guides as Rising Star in 2016 and by Who’s Who Legal: Competition 2017. In 2018, he was selected as the “Attorney of the Year” by Legal Times, a key legal publication in Korea.

In addition to his experience in Korea, Mr. Chun was a visiting attorney at Shearman & Sterling’s New York office in 2012 and 2013. He was also a visiting associate at Han Kun Law Offices in Beijing in 2007 and 2008.

Mr. Chun received an LL.M. from UC Berkeley School of Law in 2012 and his LL.B. from Seoul National University College of Law in 1999. He graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea in 2003. He is admitted to the Korea bar and the New York bar.
