Career

Yun Goo Kwon is a senior attorney at Kim & Chang’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice and Private Equity Practice.

Mr. Kwon has represented global, regional and local private equity clients in connection with their investments into target companies that have a nexus of networks in Korea. He has extensive experiences in various spectrums of M&A transactions including buy-out transactions (which sometimes also involve tender offer) as well as minority investments using preferred shares and equity-linked securities as primary investment vehicles. The target companies of the transactions in which Mr. Kwon participates range from private venture companies and medium-to-large size public companies to well-established public financial institutions. Notably, he has successfully advised private equity clients on their investments into target companies that operate and have presence across multiple jurisdictions. Also, Mr. Kwon has actively advised large Korean conglomerates and financial institutions and has assisted them with expansion or establishment of their overseas operations through M&A or joint ventures.

Mr. Kwon regularly advises his private equity clients on all aspects of their business including the formation of private equity funds, operational and compliance matters of the general partners and their funds, execution of investments and management of the portfolio companies, and exit through trade sale or initial public offering. In addition, he has advised corporate clients on general corporate and corporate governance matters and also has successfully represented a number of multinational financial institutions in various disputes and investigations involving complicated derivative-related securities products.
