Opening of Brussels Office
We are pleased to announce that Anderson Mori & Tomotsune (“AMT”) has decided to open an office in Brussels. The new office is scheduled to commence operations in early 2024.
Brussels is the regulatory as well as political centre of the EU and the place where the European Commission is seated. As such, it is attracting leading law firms from not only Europe but also from all over the world. With its superior access to major European cities such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt, our Brussels office makes it possible for us to promptly provide practical and strategic Japanese law advice to European companies and investors regarding investment projects in Japan, alliances with Japanese companies, and entry into the Japanese market. We will also provide advice on a wide range of legal issues relating to existing businesses and investments in Japan, including day-to-day corporate matters, labor issues, and disputes.
The Brussels office will be headed by Ko Hanamizu, who has been the head partner of AMT’s Singapore office since 2013 and has extensive experience in international legal affairs, as well as Ryoichi Kaneko, who is a partner with experience working in Europe (London, Brussels, Madrid) and is familiar with cross-border M&A/investment and competition law matters. In addition, our Tokyo based partner, Vassili Moussis, who was born and raised in Brussels, will be providing support to the Brussels office and spending some time there. The Brussels office will provide our clients with the highest quality legal services in accordance with the latest laws, regulations and transactional practices by leveraging on the close network of relationships that we have established with various leading firms in Europe over the past decades.
