Mr. Santosh Janakiram is a partner in and co-head of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas’ (“The Firm”) Infrastructure and Project Finance Group and previously was a Partner in Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. (“AMSS”), India's largest and foremost law firm.

Mr. Janakiram has rich experience in banking, projects, project financing, structured financing, acquisition financing and private equity and represents developers, sponsors, lenders and contractors in infrastructure and project finance transactions. Mr. Janakiram is involved in various infrastructure sectors, including energy, transportation and mining.  He has led The Firm’s development of the Renewable Energy practice in the last few years, whereby The Firm has emerged as the pre-eminent firm in the sector in India.

Chambers and Partners have since 2009 considered Mr. Janakiram a Leading Lawyer in India in the Projects, Infrastructure & Energy sector and stated that he is considered by his peers to have a “detailed knowledge” of his practice area, and being “enthusiastic, fantastic and extremely bright with the ability to handle large transactions”. Mr. Janakiram has been named a Leading Lawyer in Banking, Energy and Infrastructure, Project Development and Project Finance by IFLR1000 and Who’s Who Legal Project Finance.

Mr. Janakiram has acted on a number of landmark transactions, including advising the Indian Lenders on the restructuring of the Dabhol Power Project and advising the syndicate of lenders including State Bank of India, International Finance Corporation, Development Bank and other national and international financial agencies in the 4000 MW Mundra Ultra-mega Power Project which is the first project to be financed by offshore lenders post Dabhol. He has also advised Etihad Airways on its purchase of three pairs of slots from Jet Airways at Heathrow airport for USD70 million, as part of Etihad's widely reported acquisition of a minority stake in Jet Airways.
