Position

Janet’s key area of practice is in commercial disputes, dealing with a wide range of issues ranging from contractual disputes involving conspiracy and fraud issues, enforcement of securities and company law related issues to land disputes.

Janet also deals with energy, construction and engineering disputes, and has been an accredited adjudicator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre since 2014.

Career

Janet is identified by The Asia Pacific Legal 500 as a Leading Individual in the field of Dispute Resolution in its 2017 and 2016 editions, as a Next Generation Lawyer in its 2018 edition, and as a Recommended Lawyer in its 2014 edition. Janet has served the Bar Council’s Advocacy Training Committee as an advocacy trainer since 2016. She also served as a member of the Bar Council’s Legal Profession Committee from 2015 to 2016, Publications Committee from 2010 to 2014, Professional Standards and Development Committee from 2010 to 2012, Organising Committees of the International Malaysia Law Conference in 2007, 2012 and 2014, and the Annual Malaysia/Singapore Bench & Bar Games & Quadrangular Games in 2014.

For the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (KLBC), Janet served as a co-opted committee member and chaired the KLBC’s Social Arts & Culture Committee in 2009, as a member of the KLBC’s National Young Lawyers Committee from 2008 to 2010 and the KLBC’s Sports and Recreation Committee from 2013 to 2014.

Education

Janet graduated from University of Sheffield, England with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 2003. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2004 and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2006. In 2014, Janet qualified as a panel adjudicator of the Asian International Arbitration Centre.
