Position

Nina is part of Shoosmiths' Construction team, based in the Edinburgh office and working with colleagues nationally.
She has experience with both contentious and non-contentious construction matters, acting for developers, contractors and subcontractors across multiple jurisdictions on high value transactions dealing with large volumes of documents.
On the non-contentious front, Nina is highly competent at drafting and reviewing building contracts (under English and Scottish law), appointments, warranties and bonds for projects ranging from large developments to small works. Nina also has experience advising on the risks of the assignment/assignation with cross jurisdictional considerations.
Nina is also experienced in contentious construction matters such as mediation, litigation, adjudication and arbitration (on an international basis) for claims of a minor value to multi-million dollar disputes.

Career

Nina qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales in September 2017 having completed a training contract with Eversheds. Nina worked in both the UK and Qatar for Eversheds Sutherland and Dentons prior to settling in Scotland and joining Shoosmiths in May 2021. Nina intends to complete her Scottish law exams in 2022 to become dual qualified in Scotland as well as England & Wales. Nina has also worked in-house twice; for 6 months as part of her training contract and for 1 year on a client secondment from March 2019 to March 2020.

Education

Nina has an undergraduate degree in Linguistics and completed the Graduate Diploma in Law in 2014 and the Legal Practice Course in 2015.
