Career

Joined Domnern Somgiat & Boonma in 2007 and became a partner in 2013. As an IP lawyer, Apiwatt strongly believes in human creativity, be it a brand, artistic expression, or innovation. He has a thriving trademark prosecution practice. For him, effective communication is no less important than legal knowledge. He believes that to solve legal issues is to understand business needs and achieve them under a practical, cost-wise approach for clients to make better decisions faster.

Apiwatt helps businesses in various fields acquire trademark protection in Thailand and other countries around the world. Neighboring countries including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam are where he has been practicing daily in collaboration with local associates. Apiwatt understands trademark practice from a global perspective. Many Thai businesses entrust him with brand strategies for foreign markets. He has fought hard to bring clients’ brands back from trademark squatters in China and Vietnam, to name a few.

In addition to serving clients at the firm, Apiwatt sits as Committee Member on Trademarks in Intellectual Property Association of Thailand (IPAT). Since 2013, he helps IPAT grow public awareness of IP laws and work with the government offices to develop the trademark law and practice. Outside Thailand, he represents Thailand Recognized Group in the Copyright Committee of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) since 2015.

Currently Apiwatt is one of the partners who lead the firm’s trademark prosecution teams serving clients worldwide.
