Career

Ashleigh takes his work very seriously, and his priority is to provide you with advice that contemplates the commercial context to your business while providing the requisite legal insight. He defines a successful interaction as one where he can distill for you complex legal issues into simple terms which anyone can understand. His professional motto: Work hard, stay flexible and – most importantly – be honest.

Unlike most lawyers, he also has a degree in Business Management (majoring in Finance), so he is no stranger to the anatomy of a business, its moving parts, and the various commercial considerations it has to contemplate on a day-to-day basis. He is particularly excited by and live vicariously through his client’s ventures – it is where he sees the real action taking place (and money to be made), and where he sees himself as playing a key supporting role in making that happen.

He has had experience working in both large and medium sized firms, with experience in a wide range of corporate matters. In his foundational years, he advised listed companies on various general corporate and commercial matters including on shareholder agreements, joint ventures, and bond issuances. After deciding on a specialisation in FinTech and the technology sector, he worked a short stint in a mobile gaming platform company before returning to practice, with a legal focus on FinTech and financial services regulatory matters. Since then, he has advised banks and technology companies on banking laws and regulation, payment services, and securities laws (both in the capital markets and broader financial services context).

He tries to know a little bit of everything, but has so far focuses his practice on:
