Career

Raja Eileen Soraya obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours from the London School of Economics & Political Science in 1992 and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by The Honourable Society of Inner Temple in 1994.

Since her admission to the Malaysian Bar in 1997, Raja Eileen has been practising in the area of civil and commercial litigation. Her work includes tortious and contractual claims both in the courts and in arbitration.  She regularly appears as counsel in the superior courts in Malaysia, including the appellate courts, and has many reported cases in the law journals.

Raja Eileen was admitted into the partnership of Raja, Darryl & Loh in 2001.

Currently focusing on medico-legal and dento-legal cases as well as reputational management and media law, Raja Eileen contributed to the Malaysian Annotated Statutes on the Defamation Act 1957 and the Sedition Act 1948 published by LexisNexis and to the Defamation chapter of the Malaysian Atkin’s Court Forms.  The work done by Raja Eileen and her team has caused the international publication Media Law International to rank the firm as the market leader in media law in Malaysia every year since 2016.

In healthcare, Raja Eileen’s long-standing court experience and dealings with regulators have enabled her to provide strategic advice connected to innovation and digitalization of healthcare services.  She is a  Past President of the Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia.

Raja Eileen has been recommended in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific publication for several years and has been recognized in 2014 – 2020 as a Leading Individual in Dispute Resolution by the same publication. Its 2021 – 2024 editions have listed her in its Hall of Fame.  Another publication, asialaw, ranked her as a Leading Lawyer in Dispute Resolution for the years 2016 – 2019 and as a Distinguished Practitioner for 2020 – 2023/2024.  She has also been listed as a “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation Asia Pacific from 2018 – 2024.   Every year since 2020, Raja Eileen has been named in the list of the Benchmark Litigation Asia Pacific Top 100 Women in Litigation.

She serves the local legal profession as the Chairman of the Malaysian Bar Council’s Advocacy Training Executive Committee.
