Career

Datuk Darryl Goon, a former managing partner of Raja, Darryl & Loh and former Head of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group, is a retired judge of the Court of Appeal of Malaysia and now a Consultant with the firm.

His first degree was a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, from the University of London in 1979.  He was called to the Bar of England and Wales as an Utter Barrister in 1980 and is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, London.  In 1981 he obtained a Master of Laws degree from King’s College, University of London and at the same time also obtained a Diploma in Air and Space Law from the London Institute of World Affairs.  He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1982 and was admitted into partnership in the firm with effect from January, 1985.  Datuk Darryl has also been admitted to the Bar of Singapore.

As a litigation barrister, Datuk Darryl rose to be one of the foremost litigators in the country. Consistently top-ranked in leading legal publications and directories, his ability and versatility were manifest in the variety of litigation and arbitration work he handled during a period of over 35 years at the Bar - cases in the fields of, inter alia, medical negligence, intellectual property, defamation, companies, insurance, real property and judicial review of administrative decisions.

As a Consultant in the firm, Datuk Darryl continues to render legal advice, choosing not to appear as counsel in the Courts, but also from time to time sits as an arbitrator.
