A graduate from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom in 2014, Chun Yong was called to the Bar of England and Wales by The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in November 2015.  Chun Yong was admitted to the Peninsular Malaysian Bar in April 2017.

Since then, he has been practising in the Corporate & Commercial Practice Group, ably supporting senior partner Chew Phye Keat primarily in Competition law advisory work.  Chun Yong is experienced in advising on complex Competition law issues such as cartel behaviour, the legality of collaborations between competitors and the abuse of dominant position.   He has also conducted multiple competition law audits and due diligence on clients’ practices, agreements and policies and delivered competition law training in both English and Mandarin.

Aside from Competition law, Chun Yong is also familiar with various corporate and commercial matters, such as shareholders’ agreements, joint venture agreements, licensing agreements and distributorship agreements.  His prowess has been recognized – he was named as a Rising Star in the practice area of Antitrust and Competition by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific in its 2023 and 2024 editions.

Chun Yong became a partner of the Firm on 1st January 2024.
