Career

William obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom in June 2010 and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales as a member of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in October 2011.  He was called to the Peninsular Malaysian Bar in September 2012.

William is active in all areas of tax law. With a strong background in technical tax work, William frequently renders legal opinions to both taxpayers and tax consultants.  He is experienced in acting for start-ups, providing strategic tax advice on their business structures, as well as e-commerce platforms, regulatory and market entry requirements and tax concerns arising from, amongst others, cross-border supplies, logistic services and last-mile delivery.

Further, with an increasingly aggressive tax administration, William regularly acts for clients on matters such as tax audits and investigations and the review of specific items for the purposes of income tax filings.  He has been involved in numerous tax cases and has appeared before the Special Commissioners of Income Tax, the Customs Appeal Tribunal, the High Court and the Court of Appeal.

The Asia Pacific Legal 500 listed William  as a Next Generation Partner in its 2019 publication, as a Rising Star in its 2020 publication and again as a Next Generation Partner in its 2021 - 2024 publications.
