Position

Angel M. Salita, Jr. is a partner in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan. His practice area is corporate law, specializing in special projects (including power, energy, oil and gas, telecommunications, water, construction, BOT, and other infrastructure laws), project finance, acquisition, investment, and banking.

Projects that he has handled or is handling include Hutama-RSEA's $370M construction contract with CMMTC for the Manila Skyway (Phase I); Sual and Pagbilao power projects of Mirant Energy (formerly Southern Energy and Hopewell), the plants’ excess capacity sale, and the eventual divestment of Mirant Energy’s interest in the Philippines; JBIC’s project financing for the San Roque hydropower projects; AES’ acquisition of NPC’s Masinloc power plant; BWSC’s O&M contracts for NPC’s power barges; NTT’s investments in PLDT and Smart; Asian Broadcast Satellite’s acquisition of Mabuhay Agila II satellite; Anglian Water Corporation’s water project with the Province of Laguna; Chevron Geothermal’s Tiwi and Mak-Ban geothermal project; CBK’s power project; structuring of Meralco’s power generation business; Meralco PowerGen’s investment in RP Energy; Climate Change Capital’s investments in various renewable energy projects; Filinvest’s construction of PBCom Tower; and Tomen’s supply of telecom equipment to Globe.

Career

Prior to joining SyCipLaw, he worked at the National Power Corporation as principal engineer and senior corplan analyst, at San Miguel Corporation as a planning engineer, and at PNOC-Coal Corporation as a maintenance engineer.

Mr. Salita is a member of the Philippine Bar Association and the Inter-Pacific Bar Association.

Education

Mr. Salita obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (1982) and Bachelor of Laws (1989) degrees from the University of the Philippines. He placed 1st in the 1984 Mechanical Engineering Board Examinations and 11th in the 1991 Philippine Bar Examinations.

He completed his Master of Business Administration-International Management (1994) degree at the International University of Japan on full scholarship and attended the University of Washington as an exchange student.
