Simeon Ken Ferrer

Position

Simeon Ken R. Ferrer is an of counsel in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan. He formerly headed the firm’s Corporate Services Department. His practice areas include banking, finance and securities, foreign investments, mergers and acquisitions, and corporations.

Career

Mr. Ferrer has assisted Philippine and foreign banks and other financial institutions in connection with equity, debt and derivative securities issues, as well as securitization transactions by Philippine corporations and by the Republic of the Philippines. Among his recent securities transactions involving public companies are the San Miguel Corporation Series “2” Preferred Share issue, which was cited as “the largest capital markets transaction in Philippine history”, and the sale by the Uytengsu Family of its controlling interest in Alaska Milk Corporation.

He also assists foreign investors in structuring their direct investments in the Philippines, such as through special economic zone facilities, joint ventures, subsidiaries and branches. He acts as director, corporate secretary or assistant corporate secretary of various Philippine and multinational corporations engaged in diverse economic activities, such as power distribution, car assembly, mineral processing, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and property holding and development.

Memberships

Mr. Ferrer is a member of the Philippine Bar Association and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is also the International Alumni Contact for the Philippines of the University of Michigan Alumni Association and head of the firm’s Hiring Committee.

Education

Mr. Pamintuan earned his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1982.

He received his Master of Laws from the University of Michigan.
