Canadian Bioenergy Mission to the Philippines

SyCipLaw partner Arlene M. Maneja was a guest speaker on “Regulatory Framework for Renewable Energy” at the Bioenergy Mission to the Philippines co-organized by the Embassy of Canada in Manila and the Philippine Department of Energy.
The event was intended to be a briefing session on the Philippine Regulatory Environment for the Canadian delegation composed of representatives from Cleantechnomics Energy Ltd., Loraxian Group, Minas Energy, Sigma Water Canada Inc., and Viresco Solutions. The event was held on December 4, 2017, at the Seda Vertis North Hotel in Quezon City.
Other speakers include Jonathan L. Ravelas, BDO Unibank’s chief market strategist; Alberto Dalusong, president of the Biomass Renewable Energy Alliance; and Ruby B. De Guzman, division chief of the Department of Energy’s Biomass Energy Management Division.
Arlene M. Maneja specializes in investments and acquisitions, public-private partnerships (PPPs), infrastructure, power, renewable energy, and competition law. She has assisted leading Philippine conglomerates and their partners in bidding and negotiating PPP contracts in the transport and water industries. She also advises clients regarding competition law and any anti-trust implications of proposed acquisitions, business ventures and similar activities and has acted as competition counsel in relation to merger filings with the Philippine Competition Commission.
