Lexology Aviation Navigator: Philippines

The Philippine section of the Lexology Aviation Navigator is now online. The section was contributed by SyCipLaw partners Imelda A. Manguiat and Carina C. Laforteza, with support from senior associate Bhong Paulo A. Macasaet and associate Ma. Luisa D. Manalaysay-Sabornay. The Lexology Aviation Navigator is a tool designed to provide an interactive way to research comparative information on Aviation issues across multiple jurisdictions. It is structured in a simple, practical format, aimed to help guide the client’s legal/business process and to allow users to easily compare essential information across multiple jurisdictions. Aside from the Philippines, jurisdictions covered include the Bahamas, Bermuda, Brazil, the British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, France, Germany, India, Israel, Netherlands, Nigeria, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey the United Kingdom, and the USA.

Imelda A. Manguiat has extensive experience in foreign investments, joint ventures, infrastructure projects, and mergers and acquisitions across various industry sectors, including aviation, telecommunications, real property development, retail, financing, business process outsourcing, and e-commerce business in the Philippines.

Carina C. Laforteza is a lawyer and certified public accountant. In addition to tax and corporate work, she handles mergers, acquisitions, and divestments. She has advised clients in the advertising, aviation, food manufacturing, mass media, telecommunications, and money remittance industries. She is also currently involved in tax litigation and administrative proceedings.

Bhong Paulo A. Macasaet is a senior associate and specializes in power, infrastructure, aviation, and banking and finance. He has experience in assisting clients in various aviation transactions, including aircraft and engine leases, aircraft financing, and refinancing. He also has a wide experience in financing bot for commercial lending and project financing.

Ma. Luisa D. Manalaysay-Sabornay is an associate and specializes in insurance, aviation financing, foreign investments, and mergers and acquisitions. She has assisted in regulatory risk management and rendered transaction advice involving commercial lending, investments, and mergers and acquisitions in several industries, including power and real estate.
