Charles Russell Speechlys expansion into Singapore accelerates with new Partner hire

Charles Russell Speechlys continues to expand its presence in the Singaporean market with the arrival of International Arbitration and Investigations Partner, Peter Brabant. Peter joins the Firm’s Singapore office on Monday 25 March 2024 and his hire adds a disputes service line offering to the office, which opened in July last year.

Peter has over 15 years’ experience acting for multinational clients across Asia Pacific, and he has advised on some of the most contentious and complex investigations and disputes in the region. He has particular expertise in resolving international construction and energy disputes, as well as investor-state arbitrations relating to decommissioning and energy transition.

Peter also has a strong investigations practice and acts for numerous Fortune 500 companies across Asia, Australia and the Middle East on matters ranging from anti-bribery/corruption, incident response and fraud to cybersecurity and anti-trust. He is well equipped and alive to industry drivers, commercial nuances and emerging trends, having recently completed a secondment at an oil and gas major in Singapore, where he managed disputes and investigations.

Jeffrey Lee, Partner and Head of the Singapore Office, comments:

“In terms of the market perception of us as a Firm, Peter’s arrival is incredibly significant. We offer a range of legal services from Singapore and his addition means we can solidify and expand our international arbitration offering in the region. Singapore is an important market for us and as the region continues to grow as a leading private banking and wealth management hub, Peter will strengthen our regional capabilities and profile.”

Thomas Snider, Partner and Head of International Arbitration, comments:

“Bringing Peter on board means we have a disputes Partner on the ground who can best serve clients in Singapore and across the Asia Pacific region and directly leverage the expanding and evolving opportunities in the market. Peter possesses detailed knowledge of the regulation environment as well as a unique understanding of business drivers, and as a result will play a key role in broadening our global arbitration and litigation offering.”

Peter Brabant, Partner, says:

"I am excited to join the team at Charles Russell Speechlys as we look to grow our international arbitration and investigation practices across the Asia Pacific region. I am impressed by the Firm's vision and opportunities as it builds out its offering. I look forward to serving my clients in this growing area, while collaborating with colleagues across practices and regions".

Peter’s appointment closely follows the arrival of Real Estate Disputes Partner, Andrew Ross, in London.
