Career

Ms. Daep is part of the firm's litigation department. She specializes in corporate restructuring, reorganization and insolvency. Ms. Daep was part of the team that acted as counsel for a consortium of over 30 local and foreign banks in the corporate restructuring and reorganization of a subsidiary of a leading telecommunications company in the Philippines. Ms. Daep has also acted as a counsel of major creditor banks and financial institutions, both local and foreign, and trade creditor in numerous corporate rehabilitation petitions and insolvency proceedings filed by distressed debtors. She also handles a majority of the foreclosure, collection and asset recovery cases of one of the leading banks in the country, the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation. Aside from her expertise in corporate rehabilitation and insolvency, Ms. Daep has an extensive experience in family law, torts and damages and contracts enforcement. Her accomplishment in family law litigation includes her win before the Supreme Court in a landmark case on the novel issue of whether a dual citizen may re-litigate issues on property settlement in the Philippines by means of a petition for dissolution of marriage after having previously secured a divorce in the United States. Denying the petition and ruling in favor of her client, the Supreme Court upheld the foreign divorce and property settlement. Ms. Daep was also part of the team of lawyers that obtained another landmark ruling, this time in favor of a religious corporation, when the Supreme Court, citing the constitutionally-guaranteed freedom of religion, held as valid, the religious corporation’s termination of members in accordance with its by-laws. Ms. Daep has also successfully handled multi-million-peso litigation cases.

Memberships

Ms. Daep previously served as Director of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (Makati City Chapter). She is a member of the Philippine Bar Association, Women’s Law Circle and World Jurist Association.

Education

Ms. Daep earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law in 1996. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree major in Philosophy from the same university, graduating cum laude in 1992.
