Lin Chunlong is a Partner in the Commercial & Corporate Disputes and Commodities & International Trade Practices.

Career

His areas of practice are in litigation and arbitration, involving a wide spectrum of complex and high-value disputes in corporate, contractual, and commodities-related matters, as well as asset recovery. He also frequently advises on a wide range of legal issues involving sale of goods, corporate governance and compliance, tenancy, employment, employee disciplinary proceedings, and consumer protection.

Work Highlights

Matters of significance in which Chunlong has been involved in include advising/ acting the following:

A large state-owned power generation enterprise in an SIAC arbitration for claims arising from defaults in payment obligations under an agreement. An oil and gas company in setting aside an interim injunction to prevent payment under a bank guarantee and in resisting an application for various injunction orders. The disputes arose in relation to a contract for the design, manufacture and supply of equipment for the construction of an oil refining complex. The 1st Defendant in Kotagaralahalli Peddappaiah Nagaraja v Moussa Salem and others [2023] SGHC 6 in successfully resisting a claim brought by the Plaintiff for shares in a Singapore-incorporated company. One of the founders of TWG Tea, a luxury tea brand, in various disputes relating to the founding, development and management of TWG Tea. The claimant in an SIAC arbitration in relation to a contractual dispute where the claimant succeeded in its application for early dismissal of the respondents’ defence. The successful appellant in the landmark decision of Timing Limited v Tay Toh Hin & Anor [2020] 5 SLR 974 where the High Court held that a joint bank account may be garnished.
