Sector Leader - Victorian Government

James provides a broad range of commercial and administrative law advice to government departments and statutory authorities. He has drafted and negotiated a large number of significant contracts on behalf of government. James regularly provides practical and strategic advice about tendering and procurement issues, managing contractual performance and the resolution of contractual disputes. He also advises his clients on compliance with legislation.

James is experienced with large projects that involve a number of different government and private sector stakeholders. He has designed governance models and contractual frameworks in projects involving government, semi-government and private entities, often in a complex legislative and political environment. James understands the relationship between different arms of government and between government and the private sector. He also understands the procedures, challenges and needs of government.

He regularly presents papers at industry conferences on topics including statutory interpretation, procurement, contract drafting and managing contractual performance, and conducts regular training sessions for his clients.
