Bhavya’s practice focuses on commercial dispute resolution. She has over 10 years of experience in the field and has advised private clients, public sector enterprises, and multinational corporations who are industry leaders in a range of sectors such as manufacturing, retail, infrastructure, banking, technology, real estate, and private equity.

Bhavya has represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations, both ad-hoc and institutional, including under the rules of arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and the London Court of International Arbitration. She has acted for clients in complex commercial litigation before various courts across India (such as the Supreme Court and High Courts in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi), and specialised tribunals / quasi-judicial authorities (such as the Securities Appellate Tribunal, the National Company Law Tribunal, and the Debt Recovery Tribunal / Appellate Tribunal). Bhavya also has significant experience advising clients in regulatory investigations.

Bhavya graduated from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, with a B.A.LL.B. (Hons) degree in 2010. She received her LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School, New York, as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, in 2013.

Before joining the Firm in 2022, Bhavya worked with AZB & Partners in their Mumbai and Bangalore offices, Amarchand Mangaldas Suresh A. Shroff & Co., Mumbai, and Arista Chambers, Bangalore. Bhavya is qualified to practice in India and New York.

  • Advised an Indian government enterprise in disputes with a Swiss customer in an arbitration under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Rules.
  • Acted for a major renewable energy company in disputes pertaining to its investments in India in an arbitration under the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) Rules.
  • Advised a private equity fund in arbitration proceedings against Indian promoters under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Rules.
  • Acted for a major real estate player in Bangalore in obtaining reliefs in arbitration and related court proceedings.
  • Advised a major Indian private bank in defending a domestic ad-hoc arbitration initiated in relation to certain real estate sales in Mumbai.
  • Advised the claimants in the enforcement of an arbitral award issued by the Permanent Court of Arbitration under the Energy Charter Treaty against the Russian Federation in India.
  • Advised a China-based company in the energy sector on the enforcement of an arbitral award before the Delhi High Court.
  • Advised operational creditors in insolvency proceedings against debtors before the National Company Law Tribunal in Bangalore.
  • Advised a major Indian energy and infrastructure company in an investigation conducted by the World Bank.
  • Assisted the Indian government in preparing its submissions to the UNCITRAL Working Group on dispute resolution and investor state disputes.
