Position

Thomas is a partner at Taylor Wessing Vienna. For more than 20 years Thomas has been advising national and international clients in the field of intellectual property, with a strong focus on patent law, with respect to litigation, licensing and technology transfer. He has represented clients in major Austrian patent infringement cases, especially in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors and has broad know-how in connection with multinational disputes. Additionally, Thomas specializes in Life Sciences and Regulatory issues.

In addition to his extensive regulatory expertise, Thomas is also frequently active in franchise law and deals with distribution agreements.

Career

Thomas started his professional career as a legal trainee at the Higher Regional Court of Vienna, after which he became an associate at Engin-Deniz Attorneys at law. Before joining Taylor Wessing in 2023, he was a partner at Schwarz Schönher Attworneys at law.

Taylor Wessing enwc Rechtsanwälte GmbH augmented its patents practice with the April 2023 arrival of Schwarz Schönherr Rechtsanwälte OEG‘s Thomas Adocker, who adds significant experience in patent litigation before the Viennese division of the UPC. Adocker joins a team that is well versed in managing international trade mark portfolios and handling prosecutions. The practice is headed by Martin Prohaska-Marchried, who also leads the firm’s CEE-wide IP team, regularly assisting clients with trade mark and copyright issues, with her particular area of expertise being copyright levies.
