Ms. Chamindi Ekanayake specializes in intellectual property law and has extensive knowledge on the legal framework relating to the same. As such, she has been a key individual in building the intellectual property law practice of the Firm, since she joined in the year 2008.

As Manager of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Division, Ms. Ekanayake’s experience extends from advising both local and foreign clients on local and cross border intellectual property related transactions to portfolio management and monetization of such rights. She also regularly defends clients at opposition hearings held at the National Intellectual Property Office.

In testament to her knowledge on the intellectual property landscape of the country, she has presented academic papers at both national and international conferences on intellectual property law and information technology law. She is also a prolific author on various aspects of intellectual property law and has published numerous articles.

Ms. Ekanayake is also a trained practitioner in patent drafting, having received specialized training at the Japanese Patent Office.

Ms. Ekanayake was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2008. She holds an LL.B (Hons), LL.M and MBA (Finance) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
