Career

Moo Eng Thing holds LL.B (Hons) from the University of London and CLP.

She was attached with the Firm as an attachment student before she proceeded to read in chambers starting from 13 December 2007. She was under the supervision of our Senior Associate, Wan Intan Rita Abdul Aziz and was actively involved in various assignments.

She was called to the Malaysian Bar on 22 October 2008 and is currently a Partner of the Capital & Debt Market Practice Group.

In April 2012, she joined RHB Trustees Berhad (formerly known as OSK Trustees Berhad) as Acting Head & Senior Manager of Real Estate Investment Trusts (“REITs”) Division. She gained experience in legal and operational matters relating to REITs and unit trusts. In August 2013, she left RHB Trustees Berhad and re-joined Azmi & Associates.

She has been involved in various assignments, amongst others-

Conducting legal due diligence and acting as foreign counsel (in relation to Malaysian Law and Labuan Law) for the listing of a Labuan incorporated company on the Catalist-SGX; Advising on the proposed initial public offering at ACE Market of a Malaysian company which supplies energy saving equipment; Conducted legal due diligence for the restructuring of the FELDA Group of Companies and the listing of FGV Holdings Sdn Bhd; Advising UMW Holdings Berhad as selling shareholder in respect of the listing of its subsidiary, UMW Oil & Gas Berhad; Advising Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad on the takeover of all the existing water assets from the State of Selangor and the assumption of the water loans granted by the state to the federal government; Provision of legal services to a Malaysian-incorporated company in relation to the share sale transaction for the purchase consideration of EUR40,000,000.00 with a France-incorporated company; Advising MTD ACPI Engineering Berhad in relation to selective capital reduction and repayment exercise of pursuant to Section 116 of the Companies Act 2016; Advising Kulim (Malaysia) Berhad in relation to capital reduction and delisting exercises; Advising FGV Holdings Berhad in relation to mandatory take-over offer by FELDA to acquire securities in FGV Holdings Berhad; Advising Damansara Realty Berhad in relation to the mandatory take-over offer by Seaview Holdings Sdn Bhd to acquire securities in Damansara Realty Berhad; Conducting due diligence exercise on the application and offer documentation for the approval of the Securities Commission Malaysia in relation to the proposed selective capital reduction of Zecon Behad by non-entitled shareholders; Involved in the proposed acquisition of the lands where Sunway Medical Centre is located for a purchase consideration of RM310 million; Involved in the proposed placement of new units in Sunway REIT; Involved in seeking unitholders’ mandate to allot and issue new units of up to 20% of the approved fund size of Sunway REIT and proposed increase in fund size; Involved in corporate exercise relating to issue of, offer for subscription or purchase of, or invitation to subscribe for or purchase of unrated medium-term notes pursuant to a medium term note programme of up to RM1.0 billion in nominal value; Involved in seeking unitholders’ approval on the proposed authority to allot and issue up to 20% of the issued fund size of Axis-REIT; Involved in corporate exercise relating to establishment of up to RM300.0 million in nominal value Sukuk programme; Conducted legal due diligence exercises for project loan/financing facilities granted by Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad to various corporate borrowers/customers and prepared legal/financing documentation in relation to the said project loan/financing facilities; Advising on, and reviewing, a Concession Agreement for a sewerage treatment plant involving an international company, for a public listed company; Providing a legal opinion in respect of the proposed bonus & right issues of estate units to members of a plantation cooperative; Providing a legal opinion on stamp duty issues in relation to assignment of a sum of RM11.0 million to a fabricator company; Attending to queries on insider trading issues for an international legal firm.
