Azarith graduated from University of Technology MARA with a LL.B (Hons) in 2016. She has a prior qualification of Bachelor of Legal Studies from the same university.

She underwent pupillage at Messrs Raja Darryl Loh under the supervision of Mr. Tai Chu Wei, where she had a good exposure to all areas of laws. She has assisted the firm’s associates and partners in getting up case for trials and other contested matter, corporate due diligence exercises and acquired extensive court exposure as well.

She was called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted to the roll of Advocates and Solicitors in August 2016.

She has also enrolled and successfully completed the World Intellectual Property Organization’s General Course on Intellectual Property from 17 October to 28 November 2016. She is currently pursuing LL.M at the University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) where she specialized in Intellectual Property.

Some of her assignments include:

attended to the registration of trademarks and industrial designs in Malaysia and foreign jurisdictions for various local as well as foreign companies and provided legal advices and services in respect of copyright, industrial design, patent and trademark infringement issues; assisted research and educational institutions as well as companies in Malaysia in respect of the development and commercialization of their intellectual properties, among others, by drafting and/or reviewing Trademark Licensing Agreement, Copyright Licensing Agreement, Graduate Research Fellowship Agreement and Licensing Agreement; assisted foreign and Malaysian client in respect of business acquisition, which includes conducting intellectual property due diligence on the target company, drafting of Sale and Purchase of Business Agreement and Distributorship Agreement; assisted foreign and Malaysian client in respect of ICT-related projects, among others, by drafting and/or reviewing Master Service Agreement, Merchant Acquiring Services Agreement, Merchant Agreement, Outsourcing Agreement, Supplemental Agreement to the Training, Technical Services and Support Agreement, Licensing and Services Agreement, Outsource IT Support Agreement, Software License and Technical Support Agreement, Collaboration Letter in respect of Free Field Trial of Software, Term and Conditions and Alert Notice of an Online Application System, Application Development Tools Supply and Services Agreement; System Development Services Agreement; Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Project Agreement and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Services Agreement; assisted Malaysian client in respect of telecommunication-related and multimedia-related projects, among others, Telecommunication System Services Agreement, Virtual Private Network Broadband Rental Services Agreement and Aircraft Advertising Services Agreement; and assisted Malaysian client in respect of data protection, among others, drafting policy and procedures in compliance of Personal Data Protection Act.

She is the author of articles entitled ‘Intellectual Property Due Diligence in A Commercial Transactions’ and ‘Malaysia’s Access to Biological Resources and Benefit Sharing Bill 2017’ published in the website of Global Intellectual Property Convention. She is also the co-author of articles entitled ‘Fintech in Malaysia: Trends and recent legal developments’ published in the website of Asian Mena Counsel In-House Community (Volume 14 Issue 10 2017) and the Malaysian Chapter of the ‘Telecoms, Media & Internet Laws and Regulations in Malaysia - International Comparative Legal Guide to: Telecoms, Media & Internet 2018’ published by Global Legal Group.

She presented several papers on intellectual property related matters, amongst others, on Introduction to Intellectual Property Laws, Introduction to Copyright, Patent and Plant Variety Protection.

She is currently part of the Multimedia, Technology and Intellectual Property Practice Group of Messrs. Azmi & Associates.
