Career
Mr. Wu is a lawyer and patent agent in China. He is qualified as a U.S. Registered Patent Agent and holds the title of Senior Engineer. Mr. Wu obtained his Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Nanchang University in Jiangxi, and his Master's degree in Law from China University of Political Science and Law, and the University of Washington in the U.S.
Since beginning his career in intellectual property in 1991, he has gained a profound understanding of Chinese laws and regulations related to IP through extensive practical work, possessing solid and broad professional knowledge and strong abilities in comprehensive analysis and problem-solving. In 2005 and 2008, he participated in European and German patent law training at VOSSIUS & PARTNER in Germany and in a senior patent agent workshop organized by Japan's AOTS. Familiar with the U.S. patent law system, he studied U.S. patent law at Foley & Lardner in the U.S. from 2014 to 2015 and passed the U.S. Registered Patent Agent exam. He has extensive practical experience in domestic and international patent applications. His areas of expertise include patent drafting, patent prosecution, invalidation, patent litigation, and comprehensive legal consulting. He specializes in mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, medical devices, electronics and electrical engineering, household appliances, semiconductor device manufacturing, and material science, among others.
Mr. Wu is particularly adept at patent drafting, prosecution, invalidation, and patent litigation in the electromechanical field. As a senior patent attorney, he has represented numerous well-known domestic and international enterprises in patent prosecution, re-examination, patent invalidation, and patent litigation, accumulating rich practical experience in both technical and legal aspects.
The cases he represented have been recognized in several prestigious awards, including the Top Ten Cases of the Patent Reexamination Board of the National Intellectual Property Administration in 2011, the Top Ten Intellectual Property Cases in China in 2011, the 15th China Patent Excellence Award in 2013, and the 18th China Patent Gold Award in 2016.
Mr. Wu has also authored over ten professional papers published in domestic and international journals such as "Electronic Intellectual Property," "China Intellectual Property," "China Invention and Patent," "World Trademark Review," and "Managing Intellectual Property." Between April 2011 and March 2013, he participated in the compilation of the textbook "Patent Application Agency Practice (Mechanical Volume)" organized by the CNIPA and the All-China Patent Agents Association, completing over 50,000 words and serving as the chief editor. In 2014, he contributed to the book "PCT Practical Handbook."
In June 2011, Mr. Wu was selected as a training teacher for the All-China Patent Agents Association and a patent agency practice trainer for the National Intellectual Property Administration, leading the patent agency practice skills training teaching team. Between 2011 and 2013, he lectured at patent agent practical skills training classes organized by the Beijing, Jiangsu, and Guangdong Intellectual Property Offices and demonstrated teaching for national training classes.
Mr. Wu has been invited multiple times to conduct patent training for well-known domestic and international enterprises and the Beijing and Tianjin Intellectual Property Offices. He has also lectured on elective courses in intellectual property at the Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology. Additionally, he has given keynote speeches at various IP seminars and salons in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Changsha, Xi'an, Wenzhou, Taipei, London, Moscow, New York, and Washington D.C.
In recognition of his long-term contributions to China's patent work and intellectual property cause, Mr. Wu received an honorary certificate from the National Intellectual Property Administration in 2010. In 2012, he was selected as a "National Outstanding Patent Agent" in the first National Patent Agent Selection event organized by China Intellectual Property Newspaper. In 2017, he was rated as a five-star national patent agent. The Beijing Patent Agents Association named him an outstanding patent agent in Beijing in 2014. In 2013, after a multi-party evaluation organized by the All-China Patent Agents Association, he was selected as a high-level talent in the national patent agency industry. In 2014, he was awarded the title of "Outstanding Lawyer in the Field of Intellectual Property" by the "Asialaw Leading Lawyers" magazine in Hong Kong.
