Senior Partner, Dispute Resolution

Called to the Bar in 1987, Andre was appointed Senior Counsel in January 2003. Andre is a Senior Partner of the firm, which is the largest Singapore law firm as well as the first Asian law firm to be ranked within the top 30 arbitration practices in the world by the Global Arbitration Review.

The Legal 500 Asia Pacific has stated “Andre Yeap SC is a pillar of strength in commercial matters” and has inducted Andre to its International Arbitration Hall of Fame. He has also been recognised as a leading lawyer in the areas of arbitration and dispute resolution by several publications, including Chambers and asialaw Profiles.

Whilst focusing substantially on international arbitration work, Andre has developed a broad-based corporate, commercial and insolvency-related litigation practice which includes banking, securities, shareholder disputes, fraud, breach of fiduciary duties, trust and estate matters, often with strong cross border elements. He is also active in construction and project-related work. Apart from international arbitration, Andre remains active in commercial dispute work in Court and many of his cases, including those involving investment treaty arbitrations and the setting aside of international arbitration awards, are landmark cases, setting precedent for various areas of the law. He also led the insolvency teams in respect of Lehman Brothers in Singapore and the region, as well as MF Global Singapore.

Andre is a director of the Esplanade Theatre in Singapore as well as a member of the Competition Appeal Board, and has previously served as a director of the Energy Market Authority of Singapore and as Deputy Chairman of the Income Tax Board of Review for which he was responsible for many tax decisions and judgments in that capacity. He is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and also sits as an arbitrator.
