Mr. Laixiang (Joseph) Li’s expertise centers on a number of areas, including capital markets, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity investments, and general corporate matters. Mr. Li joined the firm’s Shenzhen Office as a partner in 2023. Prior to that, he practiced law over 10 years at other top law firms in China.

Mr. Li regularly acts as counsel assisting issuers and underwriters with domestic and international IPOs. In the meantime, he has represented numerous investment funds or start-ups completing hundreds of PE/VC deals, involving company structures such as VIE structures, sino-foreign joint venture structures and domestic structure. .

Mr. Li has designed various deal structures in cross-border investment transactions and provided to his clients a full range of legal services including compliance advice, legal due diligence, drafting documents and negotiating.

In terms of industry and sector experience, Mr. Li has long-term collaborations with clients in high-tech or emerging industries such as life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and TMT, providing consulting advices for well-known professors and enterprises on equity structure design, industry-university-research transformation, license in/out, equity incentives, compliance, foreign exchange, and other aspects, providing a streamline of comprehensive legal support to founders from Day One to M&A or IPO exits.

Mr. Li also provides advice on non-profit organization-related advisory services, including the establishment of overseas NGO representative offices, international schools, foundations, charitable donations, charitable trusts and daily compliance of NGOs.
