Mr. RONALD Kan Joined WJNCO as the Firm's First GBA Lawyer
On the morning of 19 August 2022, Jiang Xiaowen, Party Secretary and director of the Justice Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, granted Lawyer’s Practice Licenses (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area) to the first batch of GBA lawyers for their practice in Shenzhen. Mr. Ronald Kan from TONY KAN & CO. is one of the licensed. From now on, he will practice in the nine mainland municipalities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) as a practicing lawyer in WJNCO’s Shenzhen office.
Prior to being licensed as a GBA lawyer, Mr. Kan is a solicitor of Hong Kong, England & Wales, a lawyer of New South Wales, Australia, a certified public accountant (Australia), a Notary Public HK, an accredited mediator of Hong Kong and a consultant of TONY KAN & CO.

Mr. Kan specializes in civil and commercial cases and has gained rich legal experience. He served as a government counsel in the Department of Justice of HKSAR and takes positions in HKSAR Government and various associations. Currently, he is devoted to preserving and promoting Hakka culture and Hakka language together with studying the development of law technology.
Mr. Kan was born in a lawyer’s family. His father, Mr.Tony Kan is the award holder of the Silver Bauhinia Star and Justice of Peace, and serves as a committee member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (HKSAR), the director of the China Overseas Friendship Association, the founding chairman and chief president of the Association of Hong Kong Professionals, a senior consultant of TONY KAN & CO., and major roles in other associations and committees.
Guided by his father’s patriotism, Mr. Kan often accompanied his father to visit their hometown Heyuan, Guangdong for meetings, events, and poverty alleviation programs though he spent his youth studying in Australia. Through the studying of Chinese history and culture, he gradually developed strong affection to his mother country. His father often told him that “Allegiance to your country is to apply the laws to safeguard social justice”. Remembering his father’s words, Mr. Kan became an excellent lawyer. Like his father, Mr. Kan is also devoted to charitable activities and serves enthusiastically in various community organizations to promote communication between Guangdong Province and Hong Kong SAR.
