Sandeep is a former Executive Director and Head of the Legal Affairs and Enforcement Department of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. He holds an LL.M. degree in Securities and Financial Regulations from Georgetown University and an LL.B. degree from Delhi University. Sandeep is also admitted to practice law in New York and is a member of the New York Bar and the US Supreme Court Bar. Having worked with law firms in Delhi, Mumbai and Washington DC, Sandeep's core focus is on securities regulations, investment regulations,  corporate governance and public policy.

Sandeep has previously served on the task force of the cabinet secretariat for measuring the performance of ministries and departments of the Government of India. He has also served on many RBI and SEBI committees, as well as various industry bodies including CII's National Council on Financial Sector. Sandeep is a visiting faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad as well and is an independent director of HDFC Bank. He is also a World Economic Forum 'Young Global Leader' and has spoken at WEF's Annual Meeting at Davos.

Sandeep is the author of the book ‘Fraud, Manipulation and Insider Trading in the Indian Securities Markets’, which provides comprehensive and critical insights into securities fraud and insider trading regulations. He also regularly publishes articles in leading national newspapers including ‘The Economic Times’ and the ‘Financial Express’.
