Energy and Resources team bolstered with appointment of new Partner

Thomson Geer has bolstered its Energy and Resources team with the appointment of internationally recognised specialist Nicholas Antonas as a Partner.

Nicholas has extensive experience working on complex energy and resources transactions, including market leading restructurings and special situations in the energy sector, distressed energy M&A and cutting edge decommissioning matters.

Thomson Geer Chief Executive Partner Adrian Tembel said: “Nicholas brings significant skills and experience in the energy, resources and renewables sector specialising in asset/equity investments, restructuring of energy and offshore companies and distressed energy M&A.

“Investment in decarbonisation and clean energy is a mega trend in Australia and globally. While we already have strong capability in key areas around this market it is an important national market for us to continue growing in.”

Nicholas said the energy and resources sector is undergoing significant change as it adjusts to the energy transition, and this creates exciting opportunities.

“I’m delighted to be joining Thomson Geer, one of Australia’s leading law firms, and look forward to working collaboratively with my colleagues to grow our Energy and Resources practice during this time of unprecedented upheaval,” he said.

Nicholas has been recognised by Chambers UK as an associate to watch and by Euromoney as a rising star, including in its 2022 Expert Guides for Energy and Natural Resources in Australia.  He has co-edited the leading text on decommissioning law and has written and spoken extensively on energy and ESG matters, most recently at the Energy and Resources Law Association’s 2022 conference.

Thomson Geer also strengthened its Energy and Resources team earlier this year with the appointment of renewable energy and banking specialist Jae Lemin as a Partner.
