Position

Manuel Lobato is an experienced lawyer at Bird & Bird’s Intellectual Property department in the Madrid office.

He is recognized for his specialization in Intellectual Property and Pharmaceutical Law. He has acted in several multi-jurisdictional pharmaceutical patent and Supplementary Protection Certificate cases in Spain. He has, therefore, extensive experience in patent litigation before the Spanish courts.

He also assist clients in drafting technology transfer contracts in pharma, electronics and defense sectors. He also advices universities, public institutions and private biotechnology entities on issues of ownership of research results.

Manuel has also an academic profile. He has taught Commercial Law and Intellectual Property for 30 years (at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Universidad Pública de Navarra) and he is author of several monographs, like Commentary to the Trade Mark Act (Civitas, 2nd edition 2007) and is editor of The pharmaceutical patent (IDEI 1997).
