Types of work undertaken include: Advised the largest NGO in Bangladesh on preparation and drafting of its human resources policy; Advised a leading Bangladeshi university on its status as a private university under the Private University Act, 2010; Advised a leading steel manufacturer on cases involving recovery of unpaid monies against supply of steel to various companies; Successfully represented the finance manager of Power Grid Company Limited, a state owned enterprise in a judicial review proceeding before the High Court Division challenging unfair disciplinary proceedings and reduction of promotion; Providing expert opinion before English Court on child custody issues and dissolution of marriage; Represented clients before the High Court Division on annulment proceedings under the Special Marriages Act; Successfully defended Biman Bangladesh Limited in the case of its voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) which was challenged by over 1400 employees in a judicial review proceeding before the High Court Division. This is a seminal case on the interpretation and application of VRS and has been reported at 1 LCLR (2012) 102; Represented a leading NGO in a judicial review proceeding before the High Court Division concerning the scope and ambit of taxability on the interest accrued in a fixed deposit account under the relevant provisions of Bangladesh Post Office Savings Bank Rules. This is the only reported judgment on this area of law and is reported at 31 BLD (HCD) 470.
