Career

Pauline Davies is a leading expert in maritime and aviation law. She has developed a substantial practice that covers maritime, aviation, transportation and marine insurance law, the international carriage and sales of goods, and the law relating to freight forwarders.

As a partner of both Jones Fee (the predecessor firm to Fee Langstone) and Fee Langstone, Pauline has been responsible for the firm receiving a number of awards for excellence in maritime legal services, including from Corporate LiveWire Global and Acquisition International.  Pauline is named in Best Lawyers 2020 as an expert in maritime law.

Pauline’s clients include major marine and P & I insurers from around the world, an international seafarers’ protection organisation, a number of New Zealand’s major exporting and chartering interests, businesses involved in commercial marine activity and a significant number of freight forwarders, both domestic and multi-national.  She is named in numerous legal guides, including the Guide to the World’s Leading Shipping and Maritime Lawyers and to Women in Business Law, Best Lawyers and the Chambers Asia Pacific Guide.

One of the highlights of Pauline’s last year was succeeding on all heads of claim after acting as lead counsel in a technically-complex five day High Court trial where the major issue was as to the cause of a helicopter crash.  Another interesting case was one where Pauline obtained a mandatory injunction to secure the return of a vessel which was held by a repairer, where the repairer was refusing to release it despite not having carried out the contracted work.
