Career

Huangbin is a well-seasoned and renowned arbitrator, with vast expertise and experience in both civil and common law traditions, particularly in international commodities, international infrastructure and construction projects, cross-border joint venture and/or shareholder disputes, intellectual property, energy infrastructure (including clean energy), aviation, environmental technology and infrastructure projects, maritime and international finance.

Huangbin is a leading individual in China-related international arbitration and mediation sectors, having served as the first Head of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) China Desk for 8 years, a member of the Singapore Academy of Law China Working Committee, and a Standing Council Member of the China Academy of Arbitration Law (CAAL). Huangbin is a coach of the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC), and a member of the Expert Committee of the Dispute Resolution Research Centre under Peking University Law School. He is a neutral of APEC ODR Service. He is also a prolific thought leader in arbitration, having published extensively in Singapore and China.

Huangbin has been appointed in international arbitration disputes as Presiding Arbitrator, Sole Arbitrator, and Co-Arbitrator. He also regularly gets instructed on international arbitration disputes as arbitration counsel or advisor. Given the international nature of the work, the arbitration disputes span the broad spectrum of laws. Huangbin has led teams involving disputes governed by Singapore laws, China laws, India laws, Brunei laws, Thai laws, and others. The team, led by Huangbin, is therefore well appraised of any cross-border legal issues, including that of conflicts of laws, jurisdictional challenges, and challenges relating to the selection of an arbitrator.

Being based in Singapore which is a major dispute resolution jurisdiction in South East Asia, the team led by Huangbin is also well-versed in enforcement procedures in Singapore, China, and in other South East Asian countries.

Huangbin’s experience in international dispute resolutions covers numerous jurisdictions including but not limited Singapore, China (Mainland and Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan), Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, UK, USA, Israel, Australia, Japan, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Iran, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Brunei, Fiji, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Mauritius.
