Position
Steve re-joined Weightmans as a Partner in July 2012 having previously been an Associate at the firm eight years before. He now has over 30 years' experience acting for a variety of insurers, loss adjusters, local authorities and self-insured companies.
Steve was until recently acting for an insolvent Insurer within the Building Guarantee sector. This involved daily interaction with the Joint Administrators, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and Policyholders on matters of complexity and sensitivity.
Steve continues to defend employers' and public liability cases, having spent the majority of his career acting in claims of all values across a variety of sectors, predominantly the Retail, energy distribution, Sport and Manufacturing sectors. More recently Steve has been asked to assist on behalf of one of the defendants and its insurers on the “concussion related litigation” being pursued against the national governing bodies by former professional and amateur rugby and football players.
He also has specialist expertise in handling product liability claims involving a wide range of products, including contamination in food.
Career
Trained Eking Manning Solicitors, qualified 1994. Rejoined Weightmans in 2012 from Shakespeares Solicitors (formerly Berryman Solicitors) where Steve was a partner for 8 years. During that time Steve was the training principal for the firm, responsible for the recruitment and training of trainee solicitors. Steve has worked exclusively in defendant personal injury since qualification.
